Why You Should Pack a Lunch for Work
With the economy the way it is today so many people are looking for ways to make cutbacks in their budgets and are looking for more ways to save money. Many people are looking to not only shave money off their budget but to also shave some inches off of their waist size as well.
Ways To Make Changes for a Healthier Lunch Hour
One of the first ways to help with both your budget and your waist size is to buy a lunch bag to pack your lunches in daily. Making the change to bringing your own lunch will help you save money and help you eat healthier. Bringing your own lunch will keep you away from the vending machines and/or fast food restaurants. This way you can plan out your meals and you will have more control over the portion size of your meal as well. Another great reason to take your lunch to work is to help save time. Time is another thing that everybody is short on these days. If you pack your lunch, you can grab your lunch bag and go eat a healthy meal that you prepared yourself and still have time to take a walk around the building for some added exercise during your lunch break.
I know many of you are thinking, “I don’t have time to make my lunch first thing in the morning, I already have so much to deal with”. Well, don’t worry about making it first thing in the morning, make your lunch in the evening while cooking supper or while cleaning up after supper. You can make a little extra food in the evening and you can have the leftovers for lunch the next day.
Don’t Sacrifice Mother Earth for a Sack Lunch
So many people these days are actually getting more and more concerned over our environment and who wants to add brown paper sacks to the mix, we all know that is not a healthy option for our Earth. You can purchase reusable, insulated lunch bags that are very sturdy and better for our Earth rather than adding the brown bags to the landfills. A well taken care of, reusable lunch bag will give you many years of use. I would also suggest reusable containers for storage of your foods that way you are not using plastic bags and/or foil to keep the foods fresh until your lunch hour. No matter what your reason is, to save money or to lose weight, packing your own lunch is an affordable idea for all members of your family.
Take The Challenge
For one week, make your lunch to take to work each day and put back the money you would have spent on lunch into a jar (don’t forget the gas money, if you usually drive to go out to eat) and count it up at the end of the week to see how much money you were able to save just by packing your lunch each day for one week. It’s nice to have all that money at the end of the week. Now multiply that by 4 and you can see how much that will save you each month. Just think what you could do with the money saved. Pay off a past due bill or even congratulate yourself by getting a new outfit, you may need it by the end of the month especially if you are eating healthier. Ready, Set, Go!
