Transformers 2 Toy Shopping – A Check List For Parents
Transformers 2 toys are flying off the toy shelves following the success of this year’s Transformers movie, Revenge Of The Fallen. As with any huge toy range, there are bound to be some must have toys interweaved with some duds. To help you avoid the latter, here is a quick check list to point you in the right direction.
- There are 8 different classes of Transformers 2 action figures – Legends, Robot Heroes, Scouts, Robot Replicas, Deluxe, Fast Action Battlers, Voyagers and Leaders. They differ in features, price and size. Make sure you know which does which before parting with any money.
- If your child must have a transforming figure, avoid the Robot Heroes and Robot Replicas, which do not transform.
- Do not dismiss the Robot Heroes completely though as they are only 5cm each and come in packs of two so are ideally portable. They are also fairly cheap so you can buy a nice selection and your child will have hours of imaginative battling fun.
- The smallest transforming figures are the Legends, standing at only 7cm tall, and the Scouts at 14cm.
- To go with the most popular action figure, choose the Deluxe class. These are 19cm tall and come with a missile. They take 15+ movements to transform so represent a decent challenge and are well articulated in robot mode.
- For younger children who need an easier transformation process but want a similar size robot to the Deluxe class, go for the Fast Action Battlers. The detailing is not as good but the moving to robot mode is quick.
- Do not miss the larger figures for big Transformers fans. The Voyager figures are 28cm tall and the Leaders are 30cm.
- An even larger and highly thought of figure is the Human Alliance Bumblebee and Sam combo set. Bumblebee is 33cm and comes with a 6cm Sam figure. The detailing and articulation are fantastic, although the transformation is on the tricky side.
- To stay away from action figures, have a look at the Bumblebee Helmet. This is great for role play and dressing up like Bumblebee. It also has three play modes where you can hear sounds and phrases from the movie as well as have your voice mixed with music. This toy is for ages 5 to adult as it comes with an easy to adjust strap.

Use the above checklist to consider which Transformers 2 action figure to choose.
