The Advantages of an LED TV
LED TV is now one of the latest most successful additions to the home entertainment industry. With all the acronyms that are out in the market today, it is very difficult to remember what they all mean. LED TV is the acronym for light emitting diodes and it is a new product that is becoming extremely popular in the market.
In the market, there are the LED and LCD televisions; it is kind of difficult to distinguish between the two. LED and LCD stand for two different things. Their meanings are; LED for light emitting diode and LCD for liquid crystal display. People are more familiar with LCD or liquid crystal display. The two technologies work together with LED being used as backlight in LCD televisions. Conventional LCD television uses cold cathode fluorescent lamp or CCFL for backlighting. The new LED LCD television uses light emitting diode for backlights. You can only find LED televisions as big screens and not on the normal size screens. This is due to the technology; the technology being used is too big for a single pixel. You are only going to find screens that are truly LED in sports coliseums

The recent release of Samsung LED TV created a certain amount of controversy in the broader technology industry. Other companies, competitors, said that it is not correct to advertise LED television since there is no such thing as LED television. The Samsung Company however has disputed that given the facts that LED television has a higher LED technology compared to LCD, the company therefore has the right to name the product, whatever they want.
The main difference between LCD television and LED LCD television is the use of LED as the backlighting device. It simply means that a greater quality of picture is being offered. The LED backlit televisions are expected to give their very best when it comes to picture quality. Another reason is that the electricity usage is reduced by 40%, so you can watch television all day all night knowing that you are being considerate to the environment. Lastly, the LED TV is thinner and lighter compared to traditional LCD televisions or plasma televisions.
