Love Your Yoga Pants

Posted in Fashion on July 27th, 2010 by Jim – Comments Off

Yoga pants have become the love of many because it can replace jeans during regular days. It became a favorite because of the million reasons you can wear them not just in yoga classes. It can be easily matched with chic tops to make up an outfit. It comes in different styles to suit your personal choice. However, some of it comes in a pricey amount too.

So why choose yoga pants? Simply because they offer compression to reduce muscle fatigue, moisture-wicking properties, anti-chafe flat locked seams, four-way stretch that retains its shape, plus, a flattening crossover waistband. Yoga instructors prefer them because it enables them to see the placement of the knees and ankles in order to keep the joints safe. Shorts are a disadvantage particularly in a sweaty class. This is to avoid slipping in arm balances.

There are five things that yoga pants lovers look for when before purchasing one. First, a smooth waistband and gusseted crotch which is infinitely more comfortable, lies smoother and provides the option of going panty-less. This is nice for those who used bike shorts or compression running shorts. It should be stretch which is a big part of comfort to avoid distractions and fussing with your pants during the sessions. Most of all, consider the durability of the pants since they will be washed many times.

Most of these options of yoga pants are noticeably not super cheap. It’s kind of hard to spend close to a hundred bucks on something you’re planning to wear while you sweat. However, it is not that unreasonable if the fabric is thick and opaque enough for you to be in downward-facing dog without showing off the print in your underwear. There are many available pants on bargain too but you should at least try it first. If your favorite poses are not enhanced while wearing them then don’t buy them. I recommend getting some white yoga pants for the summer.

Yoga is a natural and effective way to make a body limber by using the various yoga positions as stretching exercises. The posture incorporated in the practice of yoga is important to follow to attain optimum benefits from the exercises. The easiest poses to master are the standing ones. The veerasana pose is one where the practitioner spreads the legs in a wide stance and gradually extends the arms in an overhead arcing position. This is meant to replicate the stand of a warrior, which is where the name comes from.

The pose most often associated with yoga is the dhyana mudra or lotus position. This is a sitting pose and is often used for purposes of meditation. The legs are crossed in an over cross manner and the arms are extended to rest on the knees. The hands are open and face upward with the first finger and thumb joining to create an enclosed circle. The back, neck and head should be in a straight and erect position. This is to align the chakras or energy centers within the body to receive maximum benefit. In the practice of meditation, this position is often accompanied by the intoning of a specific sound.

One of the easiest poses for a beginner to use is the vrikshasana or tree pose. This is another standing position which has the body erect in an aligned manner. To begin, the feet are placed together flat on the ground. As the practitioner raises their arms in a straight line overhead, they also raise the heels of their feet so they are standing on the tips of their toes. They hold the position, than return to the beginning. When practicing yoga it is also important to learn the proper breathing used in the motions. The inhaling and exhaling of the breath draws and expels the energy from the body.
