Curtain Panels Decorate a Window
Posted in Home Improvement on May 19th, 2010 by Jim – Comments OffWindows are delightful sources of light for a room and most people are extremely pleased to have as many as possible in a home. However, there are many times when the light needs to be filtered or blocked off. Curtain panels work very well to adjust light in a room and add a lot of visual decoration to windows in a home.
Panels of fabric can be used to decorate a window and make a room look very nice. There are many varieties of fabrics to use to make curtain panels from. For example, a pure white fabric can look very clean and sharp hung on either side of a large window. The same window could look totally different if a darker fabric was used.
Normally fabric selection used to decorate windows depends on the other furniture being used and the overall decor of the room. In a dining area that is formal and decorated with elegant antiques a fabric for decorating a window might be a rich damask curtain panel or even a dark velvet fabric. However, if the dining room is more modern and clean in design fabric choices for the window dressing might be a crisp linen in a light color.
Panels can be selected for a room that is whimsical or fun as well. Kid’s rooms are a great place to have a little fun with fabric selection. When decorating for a fun loving seven year old a fabric could be denim or a pattern with trucks or animals on it. A kitchen is a great place to have a little fun with patterns that have a food or fruit theme, but many homeowners opt for kitchen blinds instead of roller blinds or curtains. The point is to consider how the room will be used and select a fabric or style of window treatment that translates that mood to the space.
Curtain panels add a lot of decorating appeal to a room. With a little thought and planning the selection of the fabric to decorate windows can be a fun experience.
