Heaters and Solar Pool Covers Go Hand In Hand

Heaters and solar covers work together to keep your pool warm and comfortable. They compliment each other, help you to save money, and allow you to enjoy your pool more.

We are all aware that a pool naturally warms during the day but solar covers help keep that warmth in the pool overnight. By placing them on the pool at night, and removed in the morning solar pool covers effectively increase the temperature in your pool over several days by as much as ten degrees.

Many people choose to use a pool heater rather than a solar cover. Pool heaters are excellent for warming a pool quickly, and to a higher temperature than can be achieved with just a cover. However, if you don’t have a solar cover, then paying to heat your pool proves to be as effective as running the air conditioner with all the windows open.

When you use a heater, you are paying for the gas or electricity to warm the pool. However, this heat will quickly leave the water once night falls unless you are using a solar pool cover. When you heat your pool with a heater but don’t use a cover to maintain that heat you are literally burning cash. The water will not cool down nearly as much overnight when you install your cover. This has the effect that the next day, when you turn the heater on, you will not be battling the temperature loss from the night. You will find your pool becoming warm more quickly, and you will be able to achieve higher temperatures.

A combination to consider is the use of a liquid solar pool cover, the traditional solar pool cover and the heater. The heater will warm your pool to comfortable temperatures, while the liquid solar pool cover will prevent a good deal of the heat loss during the day. Even as people are climbing in and out and toys are floating, that liquid will help to prevent heat loss. Placing the regular, quality solar pool cover on your pool at night will then complete the cycle by effectively preventing heat loss. This clearly shows how pool heaters and solar covers work together.
