Warning – More Marketing and Media Changes Ahead
Posted in Internet Marketing on May 18th, 2010 by Jim – Comments OffMy work in marketing on radio and television, print, and SEO here in Charlotte NC keeps me learning everyday.
Here’s what I see today… I’m sure it will change very soon.
How Radio and TV can support The Web -
Media is in the midst of a huge change. And nobody put out a memo.
This media morph has swept the world like a long slow change of season. One day we all woke up and it was here.
No more CD’s.. the music is on iPod and similar players.
We watch TV on the computer. I have not personally owned a television for the past six or more years.
When I want to see a movie or TV show I rely on the computer.
Radio stations have undergone a dramtic change.
Staff layoffs in radio have forced the remaining staff to handle all the jobs by wearing many hats.
TV has changed as well. This reshuffling of the media has resulted in some interesting repositioning.
Now a media mix for marketing is more important than ever. There are still plenty of radio listeners and television views and many of them also use the internet. They still drive so billboards are viable as always.
Radio and TV stations now have websites to compliment the broadcast. Multiply this times all the TV and radio stations in just the US and the tapestry of media becomes a bit much to comprehend.
So what does an advertising buyer do to cover all these outlets and reach the target audience?
The answer is—do the same thing you’ve always done—find out where your audience is and buy the media that reaches them.
If your audience is in the stands at a NASCAR event, get your name on a racecar, cups, coolers, hats, tanktops.
If your audience is maneuvering through traffic during rush hour, buy radio.
And when you buy radio get on the station website as well. Because now most radio stations broadcast world wide via their site. Amazing. And you can get good rates for banner ads and audio commercials on radio and TV station sites.
SEO , Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing will increase as a vital part of advertising.
There are more choices these days so take them into consideration when you devise your marketing plan.
As well as SEO in the area of Charlotte Kyle Whitford works closely with radio and TV buys and coordinates a marketing mix.
