How to Find The Best Juicer for You

Posted in Nutrition on August 6th, 2010 by Jim – Comments Off

When looking for a new juicer, you would be well advised to read a range of juicer reviews. There are a few things that you should consider, when you are in the market for one of these appliances, that will help you find a juicer that is right for you.

First of all, how much can you afford to spend? Secondly, what sorts of fruit and vegetables do you want to turn into juice? Once you have thought about these two questions, you will be in a much better position to choose the best juicer for you.

There are many different juicing appliances and they come in a range of different prices. They literally range from tens to hundreds of dollars. The good news is that you do not have to spend a fortune to get a good juicing appliance. Of more importance is the type of produce that you want to make juice from. This will to a large extent determine the price range of your juicer.

For example, if you love orange juice and really only want a juicer to be able to make your own fresh orange juice at home then you can get away with a cheap citrus juicer. These machines are great for oranges and grapefruit and even lemons if you want. However they are no use for any other sort of juicing. Then there are centrifugal juicers which can basically do anything. The benefits of these machines is that they are fast and simple to clean up after use. We can also choose to get a masticating juicer. They are probably the best for leafy green vegetables because they squeeze them to extract the juice.

When you know what sort of juice you want to drink you are then able to discover which type of juicer best suits your needs. Then you can see if you can find one in your price range. That is all there is to it.

Reimage Review – Using Software To Fix Windows XP When The Registry Is Corrupted

Posted in Software on April 20th, 2010 by Jim – Comments Off

Seeing a blue screen fatal error is something all Windows users dread to see. Thankfully, when it does occur there are a number of steps and safeguards for remedying the issue. This article details a logical approach to repairs based on experience culminating with a Reimage review. This repair tool can help if all other attempts at repairs have failed.

Toward the end of last year I decided to revamp some of my old computers, removing old applications and freeing up some space on the drives. Unfortunately, after rebooting the system I experienced a fatal blue screen error with the exception code 0xc0000218.

Initial research pointed to it being a fault with the registry hive. The hive is a logical grouping of keys relating to specific user. From forum advice I compiled the following sequence of steps for attempting repairs:

  1. Try logging in as a different user. The principal here is that their accounts registry hive may be unaffected.
  2. Start the system in safe-mode and replace the faulty with an old copy (assuming you back-up the registry).
  3. Start the computer using a Windows boot disk.

None of these approaches worked with my issue – the blue screen kept occurring. I turned to using Reimage, an automated PC maintenance software solution that works as an online service. Their site also has an application to download and burn to CD that can be used as a boot disk. It was this that drew me to the product.

After starting the system with their boot disk it is possible to access IE and the web in order for the product to run a systems scan. This covered the registry, DLL’s, system files, application files, etc. Notably it reported dozens of registry problems. As I couldn’t decipher which key in particular had caused the issue I simply ran the Reimage repair stage.

It reset registry keys and downloaded/installed file updates (including a lot of device drivers) then rebooted. Thankfully, this was successful and the machine has been working fine ever since.

It’s comforting to know that reformatting a machine is not the last option to pursue when registry faults occur. Hopefully the steps above will help others that experience the same registry problem.
