Organize your garage with wire storage baskets
Posted in Organizing on September 3rd, 2010 by Jim – Comments OffNo matter how much you promise to keep your garage spick and span every year once you’re done with the annual spring cleaning, the place has this magnetic force that allows for it to accumulate messes of all kinds ranging from tools that you bought to complete that plumbing project in the kitchen that never really took off to that toys that your kids don’t use anymore being stowed away in there, it really does tend to get crowded. While many kinds of solutions will work if you’ve got the organizational chutzpah to pull it off, there really is nothing that matches up to the mojo of a wire storage basket when it comes to strength, durability, sturdiness and long lasting powress.
Another great benefit that is offered by wire storage baskets and that plastic storage boxes lack is the ability to mount these up on the wall using a variety of tools. Not only can you screw them in place, there are whole grids available that can be installed making your storage configuration truly modular allowing you to move the one baskets o the other whenever it pleases your fancy. The inherent heft that these baskets which are usually made out of wire mesh or other metal allows them to be the best storage medium for open tools – after all, a saw is not going to cut through metal if you put it in through the wrong angle but the same can’t be said about plastic or wicker.
As far as the aesthetic appeal of the whole setup is concerned, these baskets are usually available in naked galvanized metal or are painted black and either combination will work well with any garage. One of my friends has painted his set of wire baskets bright red and I must admit couple with his black Ford pickup it really does make for a neat man-cave to spend time in!
