Organize your garage with wire storage baskets

No matter how much you promise to keep your garage spick and span every year once you’re done with the annual spring cleaning, the place has this magnetic force that allows for it to accumulate messes of all kinds ranging from tools that you bought to complete that plumbing project in the kitchen that never really took off to that toys that your kids don’t use anymore being stowed away in there, it really does tend to get crowded. While many kinds of solutions will work if you’ve got the organizational chutzpah to pull it off, there really is nothing that matches up to the mojo of a wire storage basket when it comes to strength, durability, sturdiness and long lasting powress.

Another great benefit that is offered by wire storage baskets and that plastic storage boxes lack is the ability to mount these up on the wall using a variety of tools. Not only can you screw them in place, there are whole grids available that can be installed making your storage configuration truly modular allowing you to move the one baskets o the other whenever it pleases your fancy. The inherent heft that these baskets which are usually made out of wire mesh or other metal allows them to be the best storage medium for open tools – after all, a saw is not going to cut through metal if you put it in through the wrong angle but the same can’t be said about plastic or wicker.

As far as the aesthetic appeal of the whole setup is concerned, these baskets are usually available in naked galvanized metal or are painted black  and either combination will work well with any garage. One of my friends has painted his set of wire baskets bright red and I must admit couple with his black Ford pickup it really does make for a neat man-cave to spend time in!

Why are plastic baskets great for your room?

If someone asked me a question about why plastic baskets are great, then the most logical reply would be, why not! After all they are strong, water proof and come in the craziest variety of colors. A plastic basket accompanied by its cousins like a plastic storage bin and boxes as well as other storage tools like racks and totes makes for a great arsenal in your war against the clutter and mess in your life. Not to mention plastic baskets make taking care of your laundry a breeze. Using a couple of baskets and a simple organizational system you can make sure that your laundry never piles up on you. Whether you are a student living alone working to deal with a couple of pieces of clothing every week or a mother of five, the two basket system of laundry will make life easier for you and help save your back in the process as well.

So what would the other uses of a plastic basket be? Well the kitchen could use a couple after all! The kitchen is one of those places where most women (and increasingly men) spend a large part of their day and yet there is little done to get a control over the mess of knives, spoons and forks that is in there. There is a specific reason this happens to function this way despite the easy availability of a large number of organizational tools for the kitchen and the like. Thinking Tupperware anyone?

With a large number of tools like this one on the market, you need to figure out what you will do to your kitchen. My advice is to start with the drawers first! Get a bunch of plastic inserts for the drawers you store your items in and then once that is done, get busy organizing the condiments that are strewn all over the place!
