Abdomen Liposuction vs. Eating Right and Exercising

Posted in Weight Loss on August 20th, 2010 by Jim – Comments Off

Although you may want to get abdomen liposuction to keep your mid-section and stomach area looking tight, it may not be worth it in the long run. Even if you are able to get a cheap liposuction cost for this type of surgery, it is still going to run you a couple thousand dollars. On the low end, for one surgery, it will cost about $2000 for around 10 pounds of fat cells to be removed. Even though for some people money is not an issue, you still will need to go under the knife if you want this type of procedure done.

This means that you could be left with permanent scars, or even worse, suffer some type of damage to your abdominal muscles. The recovery time is not instant, and it may take some people several months to fully heal from this type of liposuction. So what can you do in order to lose weight without having to go under the knife for a quick liposuction procedure? Probably the best thing that you can do for yourself is to start eating healthier and exercising every day. Even though it will take awhile for you to notice changes in your weight, it will actually be natural weight loss and you won’t have to pay for any surgery.

Some people may need to get liposuction in order to help them build up some motivation to look slim, but for the most part, if you are not motivated to lose weight right now, liposuction isn’t the best strategy. Even if you have weight removed from your abdominal area, all that’s really going to happen is you are going to gain it back. If you cannot build up your self-discipline and a healthy lifestyle right now, you are probably going to end up going back for multiple liposuction surgeries; it is just not worth it (in the long run) to put your body under so much surgical stress.

Comparing Tummy Tuck and Liposuction

A key question asked by many is this: what is the difference between laser liposuction and tummy tuck. On the surface, they appear to be similar but there are some subtle differences between the two. Below is guide that compared the differences and similarity between these two type of cosmetic surgery.

How are tummy tuck and laser lipo similar?

- Both types of procedures help the patient to remove fats in the abdominal area through surgical techniques. Although the process is different, they can achieve the same outcome.

- The cost of both types of operations is also quite similar, with their average prices ranging from USD5,000 to USD6,000. Note however that the price will differ by quite a significant margin between countries and states. This is due to the different cost of living. We would expect a more expensive city like London to have higher liposuction prices than a city such as Manchester.

How are tummy tucks and laser lipodifferent?

- Tummy tuck is able to help the patient remove the excess skin as well as the body fats while laser lipo only helps to remove the latter. For patients that have excessive skin, tummy tuck would be a more suitable choice. Your surgeon can help to assess whether you need tummy tuck by a simple ‘pinching’ of  your skin and seeing the level of recoil.

- For patients that need only to remove the excessive skin, a procedure called ‘mini tummy skin’ is more suited than laser lipo.

- Laser liposuction is a less invasive type of surgery when compared to tummy tuck. It uses the heat from a laser device to loosen the fats before removing them via a suction device. This procedure requires only a small opening in the targeted area which will result in less internal bleeding and bruising. This not only shortens the recovery period but helps to lessen the discomfort as well.

Ever Heard About Liposuction Ankles?

Cosmetic surgery has been available for many years but liposuction ankles is a relatively new procedure to the market whcih many people have never heard of. Whilst the techniques have been available for some time there have recently been considerable advances in the procedure which has reduced the potential post operative problems. However, as with any surgery there are various points to consider.

For example, it is essential to find an experienced and reputable surgeon. Often the best way to approach this is by word of mouth. Once you have selected a surgeon you need to understand how liposuction on ankles works.

The surgeon will probably carry out a ‘pinch’ test where they will literally pinch your calf and your ankle to assess the amount of fatty deposits. The surgeon should also take a complete medical history as this procedure is not suitable for anyone who has suffered from deep vein thrombosis, has poor circulation or is a diabetic.

The surgery itself involves three small incisions. One is on the front of the ankle and two further cuts on both sides of the Achilles tendon. However, you should be reassured that these incisions are very small as the area in which the liposuction takes place is limited to such a small area.

Most people will be unaware of the actual operation as normally a general anaesthetic is given, or at least level IV sedation. Once you wake up from the liposuction your legs will be bandaged and these must stay in place for about a week. Initially it important to elevate the legs for approximately 12 hours, although you are able to walk for essential reasons, but standing in one position should be avoided. When the bandages are removed you will continue to wear ankle supports for a further couple of weeks, and although initially there will be bruising, most people are immediately pleased with the results.
