LED Gu10 and LED Trailer Lights

LED stand for Light Emitting Diode, a semiconductor diode that emits light. Led Lighting has become a very popular form of home lighting due to its many advantages over traditional options. A few of the advantages that you might be interested in are:

  • Provides more light/watt thus more efficient
  • Very small in size and do not emit heat
  • Can emit lights of different colors without the use of color filters
  • Are environment friendly; do not contain mercury

Led Gu10 Lights

Led Gu10 lights appeared in the market in the year 2008 to replace the Gu10 Halogens. These are known to be great power savers as a 2 watt bulb provides as much as light as you would get from a 25watt bulb while using only 1/8th power. These lights not only reduce your electricity bills but are also exceptionally long lasting – its usually years before you will have to replace them. Led Gu10 lights emit natural white light and can be used for lighting in kitchens, shops, hotels, bathrooms, bars etc. They do not emit any heat and thus are perfect for lighting enclosed areas like cabinets and cupboards and are available in variety of size and design depending on its use.

Led Trailer Lights

Led Trailer Lights are best used for bikes and boats. The amperage used by them is once again very low compared to traditional bulbs. Moreover, they emit light as soon as they are switched on unlike regular energy saving bulbs. Some of the most important advantages of LED trailer lights are that they are resistant to vibration and are water proof. These LED trailer lights come in solid state without any filament, thus are not affected by vibration. Additionally, long operating life saves a lot of money which otherwise would have been spent on replacements. Led Trailer lights also have an easy installation process, making them an ideal replacement for traditional bulbs for everyone, and for any purpose.

Have A Green Christmas With Solar Christmas Lights

Posted in Holidays on February 2nd, 2010 by Jim – Comments Off

Some people hope for a white Christmas, but for the eco-conscious consumer, the holidays should be as green as possible. One way to promote renewable energy sources is to decorate with solar Christmas lights. These lights don’t plug into a traditional electrical outlet. Instead, they are attached to a solar collection panel that collects sunlight during the day. The power is stored in a rechargeable battery which keeps the lights burning until the stored power is consumed. The battery charges again when exposed to sunlight.

Until recently, LED (light emitting diode) lights have been prohibitively expensive. Technology has advanced to make LED lights much more affordable and practical for the average consumer. LED lights are far more efficient than incandescent lights, using nearly 8 times less power. This is what enables them to be powered by a solar panel, which cannot deliver as much power as a wall outlet.

Solar Christmas lights include a sensor in the collection panel that turns the lights on in the absence of sunlight. The sensors are fairly accurate and won’t turn on the lights on a cloudy day; however, they do collect the most energy in bright sun. Filtered sunlight (through a window or skylight) will reduce the amount of power collected, but you can be creative with panel placement as the sun moves throughout the day. A dedicated green consumer should have no problem finding the most effective location for the panel. After all, solar lights reduce the demand for electricity, and the pollution produced by power plants.

In addition to being an environmentally responsible choice, solar lights also offer the benefit of burning cooler than traditional lights. They can safely be placed near paper or other dry decorations, including dry Christmas tree needles. Converting to solar Christmas lights can also help you save money on electric bills. For those who love to decorate with hundreds of lights, the savings can be considerable. They also make great gifts for eco-minded friends.
