Facts To Know About Laser Hair Removal

Posted in Beauty on February 7th, 2011 by Jim – Comments Off

There are several treatments right now that promise people of effective and permanent hair removal. One of these treatments that have proven to be safe and effective is the laser hair removal method. It is most popularly used to get rid of hair on the face, legs, and the bikini area. This procedure can be done by either a plastic surgeon, skin doctor, or an aesthetician as long as they have the necessary certifications or licenses to perform the procedure.

This procedure makes use of the intense light emitted by the laser beam to destroy the hair follicles and render them incapable of making hair grow back again. In the three phases of hair growth – growing, resting, and shedding – the laser treatment is done in the first phase. Usually, hair will fall off around 10 days after the procedure. For the treatment to be most effective at least four sessions, at one session every four weeks, are recommended.

One should be aware that not everyone will have the same results from this kind of hair removal treatment. The laser hair removal method works best on those with dark hair and a light complexion. It will still be effective on those who have lighter hair and darker complexions but in their case, more sessions of the treatment is required. It is also possible for hair to grow again depending on one’s hair type. Those with tanned skin are advised against using this treatment as a possible side effect is skin discoloration.

Once you have decided that laser hair removal is the best option for you, there are some things to do to prepare for the procedure. Most clinics require their clients to shave three days before their appointments. There is some kind of pain to be expected but it is not that painful. Just to be sure, especially if you have low tolerance to pain, take some ibuprofen 20 minutes before.

Body Hair Removal Techniques

The removal of body hairs is a custom that many women incorporate in their beauty cures, be it at home or at a salon. There are many different techniques available that each aim to achieve the same goal. However, their methods in reaching that goal are quite different, ranging from different pain levels to different price tags. Also, the effectiveness of removing all hairs and the effectiveness in terms of the lasting effects are not equal from one technique to another. This article will discuss and outline the benefits and downsides of some of these techniques, and allows the reader to get some new ideas or alternatives for their current methods of hair removal.

The easiest thing to think of in terms of body hair removal, is shaving. This is also the easiest in terms of execution. Apply some cream, use a sharp razor, and cut the hairs at the skin level. However, downsides are that you do not remove the hair completely, thus it will regrow quickly. Also, your skin will get stubbles, and you will need to shave often to keep that smooth effect. Most women who shave, apply this technique mostly to their legs, either during or after a shower or bath. As long as you shave regularly and with sharp razor blades, you will have the sensation of a hairless skin. This method is not advised as a facial hair removal technique, because of the stubbles it will create in the long term.

One of the most effective ways for body hair removal is waxing. However, it is also quite painful, especially in the beginning when your hairs are still firmly attached to your skin. In time, they will release easier. The hot wax can be painful, so be sure to get some advice from a professional before you start waxing on your own.

Lastly, the most permanent solution is to use a laser. The laser will attack the follicle directly, damaging it to the point that it will not regrow its hair. This is expensive, as the laser hair removal costs can add up to thousands of dollars for larger areas on the body. However, when you think about all the money you will spend the rest of your life on creams, razor blades, expensive waxes and the salon, and other products for hair removal, the laser treatment could be a smart investment after all.

How Laser Facial Hair Removal Works

Today I’d like to take a minute and teach you a little bit about laser facial hair removal.  Using lasers for facial hair removal is not new.  Lasers for hair removal have been in use since the early 1970′s but like any technology they have improved dramatically over the years.  In recent years laser facial hair removal has become popular for both men and women which is a change because it traditionally was mostly used on women.

Let me explain how laser facial hair removal works.  All human hair grows from tiny orifices called follicles.  Hair follicles contain a substance called melanin.  Melanin is a substance that gives hair and skin its color.  Darker substances absorb more light than light substances and this is the main principle by which laser hair removal works.

When laser light is applied to hair follicles the darker melanin in the hair follicles absorb the heat from the laser light.  This heat damages the hair follicle and inhibits future hair growth.  Notice that I didn’t say permanently prevents the regrowing of hair.  It is possible and likely that hair will eventually regrow from the follicle but laser hair removal will slow the process.

Laser facial hair removal works best on individuals who have light colored skin and dark colored hair.  This is because the dark hair contains more melanin than the light skin.  People with dark skin are not generally good candidates for laser facial hair removal because their skin absorbs the heat from the laser and is often burned.  There are special lasers for people with dark skin but they’re not as effective when treating people who have light colored skin and dark colored hair.

If you choose to have laser facial hair removal, you’ll need to go in for several treatments in order  to get the best results.

Introduction to Laser Hair Removal For Men

Posted in Beauty on July 28th, 2010 by Jim – Comments Off

Laser hair removal is not just for women anymore. Men of all ages and occupations are discovering the benefits of removing unwanted hair via lasers. Some men keep it simple with just neck hair and maybe eyebrows. Others go for removal of chest and back hair. Which ever way you go, you need to do some research. Here are some basics to get you started.

Skin and hair color are important when discussing laser for hair removal. The best results are obtained by people with light skin and dark hair. This is because the laser can more easily distinguish between the skin and hair making it more effective. That is not to say that it only works in these cases. Different skin types require a different type of laser so you need to ask plenty of questions if you’re not one of those described above.

Is laser hair removal painful? Yes…but you can handle it. Different people have different pain thresholds but most describe the feeling as a rubber band being snapped against your skin. Topical anesthetics are often used to minimize any pain. If the pain is unbearable then most likely the laser operator has the settings wrong and is burning your skin!

Will my hair be permanently removed? Depends on what you mean by permanent. The FDA defines permanent as six years and thus allows practitioners to use that word. Usually, everybody needs some type of follow-up session after a few years. Hair laser removal is not forever but it’s the best method out there for hair removal and lasts significantly longer than waxing or shaving.

How much will it cost? About the same as a nice vacation for your and your significant other. You can expect to pay between $1000 and $3000 depending on your hair and skin type and where you want it removed. There are too many variables to get a more definitive number as each persons situation is different. Laser hair removal for men is not cheap but if you add up the cost of waxing and shaving over several years (not to mention the time involved) it’s a worthwhile expense for many people.

Finally, do your homework. There are many clinics out there and competition is good for the consumer. Don’t be afraid to talk with several until you feel comfortable with the clinic and its staff. It’s important to get the information you need to make the right decision for you.

An Answer to Aging, Quick Lift Face Lift

Posted in Beauty, Uncategorized on June 13th, 2010 by Jim – Comments Off

Beauty cannot last forever let alone a lifetime. Aging is one of the main factors affecting one’s appearance. With the aging process, one may not only encounter problems in health in the form of diseases and disorders, but also changes in one’s appearance. The latter being the main source of one’s confidence is at great risk when put up against the aging process. It would be great if one had the chance to have the wisdom of one who has gone through a lot of years in life yet look a few ages behind.

Because of such concerns about aging and its effects on one’s looks, mainly an individual’s appearance, treatments in the field of cosmetics have been developed to address such a problem; and one of these latest developments include the Quck Lift Face Lift. Now you may ask yourself “What on earth is this?” and “Is it going to work and make me look younger?”

This face lift was developed by Dr. Dominic Brandy, and is already being done by numerous doctors who have undergone his training. This procedure is basically an improved version if the S-Lift. The latter has been performed since the late 1990s but has come up with limited results.

The Quick Lift offers an improvement in the appearance of the entire lower to mid face as well as with the contour of the upper neck thus, resulting in impressive age-diminishing effects with small downtime and lasting results. This procedure was developed to cater to both men and women from 40 and 65 above in age who would want to beat the aging process. Compared to other procedures that only tighten the skin, this new innovation permanently suspends the underlying structures of the lower face which makes results last for a greater of number of years.

This is usually done on an outpatient basis and only takes about an hour or two to perform which may vary depending on the surgeon and how much correction the patient wants. Plus, an oral medication is given before the start of the procedure to help the patient relax for a smooth-sailing session. So go and pay your dermatologist a visit and ask more about this and other concerns you might have such as laser hair removal cost.
