Guide In Choosing Your Blog Topic

Posted in Blogging on February 7th, 2011 by Jim – Comments Off

If you want to make money off the internet, then starting a blog will do the trick for you. Blog sites have a way of ranking well with search engines especially if you keep on posting new articles and you have a good audience. The next step towards making money is to determine what topic you would discuss in your blog. You have to bear in mind that this could not be just any topic out there but it would need to be profitable.

You always have to bear in mind that your main goal in setting up a blog is to make money from google and other methods. This will allow you to focus on the more profitable topics. Ask yourself if there is anything that you are particularly interested in and passionate about that could be made into a topic for your blog. If there is something there, ask yourself if it could be profitable or not.

The best way in determining this is to check if there are other offline businesses that thrive within the industry that your potential topic belongs to. Examples of these are finance, pets and the like. If there are offline businesses that succeed in that industry, then chances are, you will also succeed in talking about that topic online.

There are a lot of profitable topics out there and here are just some of them:

  • Make Money Online
  • Investment Strategies
  • Real Estate Investing Ideas
  • Basic Computer Lessons
  • Computer News
  • Cell Phone News
  • Computer Programming
  • Teach People How To Diet
  • Parenting
  • Pets
  • Celebrity Gossip
  • Politics
  • Sports
  • Movies
  • Exercise
  • Humor
  • Home Decor
  • Books
  • Travel
  • Motivation
  • Business
  • Cars

Of course you can choose beyond this list. You can check with a known and trusted internet marketer for a topic that is profitable online. So long as you have the determination, it could just be anything.

World’s Best Couple – Underdogs

Posted in Relationships on November 21st, 2010 by admin – Comments Off

A 22ct diamond ring is the prize offered by New Zealand born jeweller, Michael Hill, in a contest to find the “World’s Best Couple”  launched by reality TV star, Kim Kardashian last month.

In a bid to win the prize and title are my husband and me: Steve and Kathleen Nyssen (“Nyssen Kind”) from Whangarei, New Zealand.

Ironically, Whangarei is the birthplace of  the Michael Hill empire. He is lauded as one of New Zealand’s most successful specialty retailers, having cracked the market at home and in Australia; as well as, the States and Canada. The competition is open to couples in these same countries. Each couple is required to complete challenges on-line, then garner as many votes as possible – a very clever marketing move by Mr. Hill to help breathe new life into the business amidst a stagnant economy.

At this stage in the competition, only votes move the couples up the ladder. On December 2, 2010 the top 6 couples – the couples with the most votes – will be invited to the next phase of the competition: judging.

Little is revealed about this stage of the contest, but Michael Hill and Kim Karashian are said to be on the panel of judges, along with as-yet unnamed “experts.”

Steve and I entered the competition late – a full two weeks after it opened. Still, out of over 10,000 couples we are hovering around the #17 spot. We are definitely underdogs – older than many (if not all) of the couples ahead of us by at least a decade (I’m 40; my hubby, 39). We are not at all savvy in the ways of marketing ourselves. The internet, Facebook, Twitter - and reality TV for that matter - remain mysterious horizons that we tend to scratch only when time permits. But we are learning! We’re also not accustomed to competitions. Ours is more of a “grass-roots” campaign, to be sure.

Nevertheless, we are in it to win it. My husband was diagnosed with cancer last June. Our decision to enter is largely due to this fact. We’re finding this competition to be an excellent way to distract ourselves from the often dismal reality of the cancer. We’re creating memories for ourselves that we will treasure forever – with or without the ring.

It is strange to be this close, yet still so far from entering the top 6. The faces there haven’t changed much, so we are trying to come to terms without “giving up.” We have to take a few steps back every so-often in order to continue to enjoy the ride in this strangely nerve-wracking contest. I realized the other day that I was equating Steve’s prognosis to the outcome of the contest – a dangerous thing to do.

Instead, I’m viewing this as an opportunity to embrace life and to celebrate our incredible Love Story. And I am grateful to Michael Hill for the opportunity to do so.

Search Engine Optimisation And Internet Marketing Companies

Posted in Search Engine Optimization on February 18th, 2010 by Jim – Comments Off

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the process of selecting the most suitable targeted keyword phrases related to your site and ensuring that your site ranks highly in search engines, so that when specific phrases are searched for, your site will be returned at the top of the list. The process involves making small adjustments to your site’s content along with its HTML and Meta tags and involves appropriate link building.

The most widely used search engines are Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL and Ask. These search engines all keep their methods and ranking algorithms under wraps to avoid individuals being able to manipulate them. Each search engine wants to receive credit for discovering the most valuable results and to prevent spam pages from showing up in those results. These companies will adopt a multitude of factors to determine the ranking of the listings and these factors are altered frequently.

Algorithms can differ so greatly that a webpage that ranks #1 in one specific search engine could rank as low as #200 in another. Newly created sites need not be “submitted” to a search engine in order to be displayed. Providing a link to a newly created site on an already well established site will ensure that the search engines visit the new site and spider its contents. Nevertheless, it may take days or weeks for the search engines to discover the link.

If you are unable to research and select keywords and assign the time to improve search engine rankings, you may wish to hire someone to do this on your behalf.

Internet marketing companies will endeavor to review your site plan and suggest methods of enhancing your search engine ranking and increasing the number of visitors to your site. Continual consultation and reporting can be provided to monitor your website and proposals can be offered for the editing and improvement of your site so that the number of visitors to your site is maintained and your search engine ranking remains at a peak.

SEO experts typically work alongside web designers to create an integrated plan to ensure the complete acknowledgement of all design aspects.

My Take On The Wealthy Affiliate University Scam

Posted in Make Money Online on December 23rd, 2009 by admin – Comments Off

Someone asked me the other day “What is the Wealthy Affiliate University scam?  I have never heard of a University scamming anyone before, and what a funny name for a University!”

Well I had to laugh at that because it was pretty funny, but then I explained that Wealthy Affiliate University is an online membership program that teaches people how to make money, and that some people say that it’s a scam, hence the name “Wealthy Affiliate University scam.”

Now if you want to know what my take is on it, I’ll tell you.  I wouldn’t say that the program is a scam at all although I can understand why people would be sceptical about any program that promises to make you a lot of money Online.  It gives you a very thorough understanding of affiliate marketing, and I’ve make good money through affiliate marketing, as have a lot of other people.  But I think that one of the reasons that people might think that the program is a scam is because they have gone into it with false expectations.

Some people are really looking for a way to get rich fast because there are unfortunately some people who try to spread the idea that that is possible, but the truth is that if you want to be successful financially with any venture then you are going to have to put in a huge amount of effort. Very few people make money on their first day of internet marketing, and those that do are usually blessed with an extra large dose of what they call “beginner’s luck”. It takes time to know what your’e doing and to learn the ropes and really start to see success, and anyone who thinks that they are going to be successful right away is probably going to find out the hard way that that simply isn’t the case, and will think that whatever program they are trying is a scam.

If you are interested in affiliate marketing, then I think that Wealthy Affiliate does a good job of teaching the ins and outs of it.  But it won’t happen overnight, so don’t join thinking that it will, if you aren’t willing to work hard and not see results for at least a few months then you should give it a miss and search for the next big Internet Marketing “guru” who promises to sell you the secrets of making money Online without doing any hard work.
