Lose Weight with Green Tea Tablets

Of the many health benefits that green tea supplies, aiding in weight loss is one of the most famous. There are now many people who have heard about green tea weight loss and some of them will have also tried it. Having said that, to achieve weight loss with green tea you would need to drink 12 or more cups a day! Fortunately we can buy green tea tablets that are in a concentrated form of the green tea leaves and these supplements are generally called green tea extract. Just one of these tablets can deliver the weight loss effects of about 12 cups of green tea!

So how exactly does green tea aid in weight loss? There are actually two elements in green tea that help us burn fat and lose weight – caffeine and EGCG. Caffeine has long been known for its stimulating effect upon the body and that stimulation is a result of caffeine increasing the speed at which our metabolism works. When the metabolism increases we need to burn more calories to fuel it and this can help us lose weight. However, caffeine is a lot better at helping us stay alert and focused for other reasons and its ability to raise our metabolic rate is minimal.

Scientists having tested the effects of green tea upon our metabolic rate and therefore weight loss and found that there must be something else that helps us lose weight with tea up and above the effects of its caffeine content. That ‘something’ was discovered to be the antioxidant in green tea that gives it its many other health benefits like protection from heart disease and cancer. The antioxidant is called epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG for short.

To test the effects of EGCG compared with caffeine several studies have tested volunteers by splitting them up into groups and giving one group a dose of caffeine each day for a period of time and administering the other group the same amount of caffeine and a large dose of EGCG also. In every study so far it has been found that EGCG burns fat and reduced weight far more effectively than caffeine alone!
