Simple Makeup Tips And Techniques

No matter how much you think you know about makeup application, there are always a few makeup tips that can make things easier.

The best way to enhance your makeup is by always putting on a moisturizer first. Particularly with dry skin, but with any skin type, any creases or lines on your face will be filled in with the moisturizer instead of your makeup. It will also soften flaked skin which otherwise could be difficult to hide. On top of that, moisturizer is good for overall skin health and should be applied morning and night anyhow.

Pick the right concealer for your specific trouble spots. Speaking of spots, a single pimple or other small speck can easily be hidden with a skin colored concealer. These concealers are also good for overall coverage and evening out of skin tone. Blue or green concealers are great for covering and evening red tones like those caused by heavier acne or rosacea. For under eye circles, try white or yellow. Once the concealer is on, the area under the eyes will be lighter and easier to work with. Apply corrective concealers by dotting them on and then gently rubbing them in.

When applying blush, remember that you want to accent your cheeks, not paint them a different color. Using gentle, soft strokes, apply blush in an upward direction starting at the base of your cheekbones. Be sure that the color is blended with your foundation color and not a stark entity on its own. Pick a shade that suits your skin tone. For darker skin tones, choose richer pinks and for lighter skin go with paler pinks.

When it comes to eye makeup tips, a few simple guidelines for mascara application will make you happier with your lashes. To add body and create thicker lashes try applying the mascara by putting the brush as close to the lid as possible. As you run the brush through your lashes, wiggle in gently. This helps get mascara onto every lash. To add length, slow down your stroke as you reach the lash tips and gently tug to lengthen them.

For keeping lipstick from wearing off, try applying one coat, then lightly powdering your lips with translucent powder. This will create a matte finish so if you prefer a shinier look, apply another coat or add a lip gloss. To prevent lipstick from seeping out of the lip line, line your lips with loose powder with a cotton swab.

Lipstick on your teeth can be embarrassing. To help prevent this, suck your thumb! Well, not exactly. But do put your thumb in your mouth as if you were going to. Then slide your thumb out to absorb all the lipstick that has gotten inside your lips that would otherwise have worked its way onto your teeth.

These tips can help you become a pro at applying makeup in no time.
