Closet Organizing Tips – Rescue Your Closet From Chaos
Posted in Organizing on May 5th, 2010 by Jim – Comments OffMany of us are probably guilty of having a chaotic closet and without even the slightest attempt of getting it organized in some way or another. While many individuals would be just fine living with it, they may also be leaving a big benefit, no matter how small or big, being lain down on the table. Keeping stuff organized inside the closet, without a doubt, brings advantages that will benefit you in many ways. You may have to open your closet doors with absolute peace of mind at all times knowing that when you open the doors, you are confident enough that there would be no clothes-slide falling down on you. You may or may not have the penchant for it, but wouldn’t it be worthy if you at least give it just one attempt? In any case, let us share some tips which could help rescue your closet from chaos. These few basic tips might just be the ones to help one out in finally having a dazzling closet.
Moving on, here are the few simple tips:
- You will have to secure some boxes. Five boxes will suffice. Either you buy the boxes from a local store (they don’t cost much anyway and you can reuse them over and over) or you sift through the garage, attic, or basement. You might find some that are still usable. Just make sure that they are still usable and clean. You are going to need these boxes as you sort all the closet stuff.
- If you’ve got some green bucks to spare, you might want to consider getting some closet organizer systems. These systems can make things easier and they help maximize every available closet space. But if you don’t have any to spare, then it’s still perfectly fine. Move on to the next step.
- Label the boxes in accordance to what closet stuff category you might want to put into those. For example: undergarments, shoes, sandals, business suits, casual trousers, casual shirts, socks, accessories, stuff that you are not using anymore or you don’t want to wear anymore, and etc.). If you run out of boxes, don’t worry. You can still use the bed or the floor to group things together. Just don’t mix things up.
- Get a pen and paper. Don’t ask now what they will be for. You will know what they will be for in a while.
- Now this is the big part. You will have to empty your closet this time. To do it in an orderly manner, you can pick them one by one and put them inside the corresponding boxes which you just put some labels on. But then again, you can accomplish this much faster if you’ve got some extra hands. Most likely, it is during this process that you will find those missing accessories such as socks, gloves, or whatever you may have been looking for, haven’t found it, and then totally forgot about it.
- Now once all the stuff is already in their respective groups altogether, get your pen and paper. List down the stuff you still really need or still want to use to. These are the stuff you would want to load back into the closet. It is most likely that many of the stuff you just unloaded from the closet haven’t been worn nor touched by you for quite some time already. Ask yourself. Do I really still want this stuff? It is much easier to work with a list first. You don’t want to end up pulling your hair just because you do not find the stuff in their proper perspective once all of them are already loaded back.
- Now load all the stuff back into the closet in accordance to what you have outlined in your list. Don’t forget that you have to group things in categories.
- Once all the things are already in, you will find that they are in proper order already. Congratulate yourself and your aides. Job well done.
