Upgrading Car Insurance Features Could Cost Motorists More Money

Posted in Car Insurance, Uncategorized on September 8th, 2010 by Jim – Comments Off

Are you tempted to upgrade features on your cheap car insurance policy? Well, doing so can increase the price of your premium. Adding more features to your policy can be a wise thing to do if you want more coverage, but it will cost you more. Try to get extra features included on the standard deal. Many insurers now add courtesy car and breakdown for free as an added incentive for motorists to buy their policy. Try and get one of these.

Adding new features like breakdown recovery can be advantageous, as no one likes to be broken down and stranded by the roadside. But with a quality car breakdown cover plan, you have no need to worry. The recovery company can be with you in around 30 minutes of you breaking down and the majority of call outs are fixed at the roadside anyway, so you’ll probably not even have to be taken to a nearby garage, in order to get your vehicle repaired or fixed. Some companies offer free breakdown on their standard policy or even discount it, so you get save some money. But, when it comes to breakdown cover, I would always go direct to the main supplier, as you are likely to get it cheaper with them. The Tesco car insurance policy will always cut you a good deal anyway.

If you have been involved in an accident and your car is out of action because it is being repaired, it might be a good idea to add a courtesy vehicle to your policy, so you can still keep mobile. As most of all need a car every day to get to work or take the kids to school. So how would you do that without a car? Well, that why a courtesy car is a good idea. But, it will cost you extra, unless you manage to get it as a free feature.

There is one feature that I would always consider paying for as an extra feature on to my policy, and that is protecting your no claims bonus. This only cost around £20 extra and means that you can have two claims on your policy over a three year period without it affecting your no claims. Discounts for healthy no claims drivers can get them huge savings off the price of the policy.

If you want to get car insurance but are finding that the monetary cost is a bit beyond your reach then you are not alone. In these tough economic times it is becoming increasingly more difficult to find the money to pay for your car insurance – especially if you are in one of the high risk demographics that mean you have to pay more, such as being a young inexperienced driver. Finding an affordable auto insurance rate that is good for you doesn’t have to be hard though. Luckily, finding affordable auto insurance is actually a lot easier than it used to be because of access to the internet.

You have to remember that when trying to find car insurance you can’t just search for that term on the internet because being affordable may mean lots of different things to different people. This is why it is a good idea to go to a price comparison website to get an overview of the best deals available. Once you see which of the insurers offer the best deal then you can try and go to their website to get a better deal for yourself. You can nearly always find auto insurance for good prices if you spend some time doing the research. Before you start looking for auto insurance at affordable prices you need to think a bit about your own requirements. Your age, gender and various other factors will affect how much you have to spend, but these aren’t really in your control. Do you need non standard car insurance or insurance for a teenage driver? One of the things you need to decide is whether you want third party or comprehensive coverage, and how important customer service is to you. The best way to decide on whether the customer service is good for a specific company is to ask people you know who have used them what they are like and to search on the internet for independent reviews. When looking for reviews make sure that the website isn’t really an advertiser in disguise as that definitely isn’t an independent review!

It’s important to remember that you are get tying auto insurance for a reason, so going with the cheapest option isn’t always best. Make sure you have the coverage that you need, even if it means paying a little bit more. If you are a student or retired then money can be especially difficult to come by so it may be hard to choose a more expensive option, and there is nothing wrong with looking for affordable auto insurance quotes, just make sure that you aren’t getting inferior coverage to save a few dollars each month. If you get a very basic coverage then it may not provide you with all the services that you think it would and hence might not be a good idea.

Month to Month Car Insurance Information

Until I found out about month to month car insurance I had the worst time saving up for the standard 6 month car insurance payment plans that most drivers are opted into. I was doing some research on how to lower my costs and increase savings when I stumbled across information about how insurance companies had begun allowing the customers to pay monthly instead of every 6 months. While it does not sound like this would be a boon to drivers, in my case it was!

It is tough to save up for your car insurance payment. I had the worst time of it – I was always fine for the first couple weeks, just after I had made my previous insurance premium payment. No troubles until the second, but most likely the third or fourth months. It would have been weeks since my last payment, and I would be walking down the street or in the mall with my wife, and I would see something in the window that I just needed to have. Or a gift that would have made my wife’s week, if not month. Looming in my mind, however, would be the fact that this money was not mine to spend, it had already been earmarked for the dreaded upcoming car insurance payment that was looming up ahead like a far away but closely approaching monster. And I would sigh and pass up buying something wonderful.

Moving to the month to month plan worked out great for me because as soon as I started doing it, I set up direct deposit on my bank account, and at the beginning of each month my payment was taken care of and I did not have to worry about it for the rest of the month. It is so relaxing to know that my required car insurance policy is taken care of without me having to lift a finger each month. Try it out for a year and see if you would rather pay monthly for car insurance instead.
