A few quality area rugs may be all you need to make your home more aesthetically pleasing and inviting all at the same time. These functional room decorations can change the entire look and feel of any room in an instant but it can be confusing to choose the right ones. Here are a few handy tips that can help you the next time you are looking for a way to redecorate your home with a new rug.

First you need to determine what size rug you want. There are standard sizes that include 5×8, 8×10 and even larger. Use a tape measure to get accurate dimensions of the room and then decide how much floor space you want to cover with your new area rug.

Wool rugs can also be found in a wide variety of shapes but the most popular are round, rectangular, square and oval. There are also novelty rugs that are shaped like objects, animals and more.

Next you will want to choose a color keeping in mind that a bright shade will be noticed immediately when you enter the room. An area rug can serve as the centerpiece of the room, so you want to make sure that it complements your furniture in both style and color. Matching colors exactly is not as important as making sure that the colors complement each other. Use your imagination to come up with a hot new color combination that no one else has thought of yet.

You will have a choice between patterns and solids. Abstracts and bright geometric shapes are popular but you can also opt for a more homey style or just a single color.

Price will depend on the size, quality, style and material. Where you buy your rug will also have a lot to do with how much you will pay for it. It is always best to check as many sources as you can and compare prices before you make your final decision.

It’s All About The Red Rug

I recently moved into the big city. The Big Apple itself. I couldn’t believe I just landed the job of dreams. It was a ton more responsibility and a step in the right direction, straight to the top. I am from a rather small suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and despite living near the Burgh as we call it, it is nothing like the “City that never sleeps”. I never had too much trouble with the ladies but something seemed to change drastically when one of two things happened: I moved to the city, and believe it or not, when I purchased the “red rug”. I know it sounds crazy but it is true. The apartment I found myself in was according to some, extremely large for a newbie in the city. When I told people the price per month I was paying, they usually just said the same explicit word that I will not repeat. It was at the middle of my budget so I wasn’t too worried.

When I moved from the Burgh I left everything. Not that I had much it was just that most of it was not worth taking. I found myself quickly looking for furniture and decorations for the new pad. I bought the magical red rug more as a joke than anything but I have received more compliments on it from the ladies than I could have ever imagined, even above my stylish, black leather tub chair I have in the corner. There must be something to it. I just thought it was a red rug but apparently I was mistaken. The large rug fit perfectly into the area between the living room and the open kitchen. It’s become my little red rug site.

My apartment seemed to quickly become the party house for my newly found friends. I didn’t mind because that meant there were more parties to throw and ladies to meet. Keep your eyes open for that special item that makes the difference in your life. I didn’t want to believe it but it truly is all about the red area rug gentleman.
