Is the Ab Chair A Good Buy?

Posted in Fitness on January 27th, 2010 by Jim – Comments Off

When it comes to fitness workouts and equipment, there are a myriad of what I like to call ‘gimmick’ products available on the market. This is even more true when it comes to abdominal equipment–perhaps more true in this area than any other type of fitness products on the market. One such product is the ab roller chair. So, is this product legit and can it help you target and develop your abs in a more effective way than traditional exercises such as sit-ups and crunchs?

When trying to answer this question, it’s important to take into account two factors. One, is the cost – is the extra cost (because doing crunches is free) worth it? Does the abs chair help you target your abs that much more effectively to justify the price tag? The ab chair elite costs around $100 and the ab chair 2 costs around $80, which isn’t that bad, but it definately isn’t free by any means.

The second factor you need to consider is the effectiveness of the product. Even if it were free, does it effectively work out your abdominal muscles? For this one, you will need to read multiple ab chair reviews to get a better idea. You can also speak with a local fitness guru and get his or her take, but it really is best to try it out yourself or to get information directly from a previous user of the device.

Bottom Line:

When you look at the ab chair from these two perspectives, the grade it recieves is probably between a 5-6 out of 10. Amazon customers have rated it as a 3.4 out of 5 with over 3,400 reviews, so that gives you a pretty strong indication that the machine works somewhat but probably not up to the level that would make it worth it to spend the $80 to $100 and then find a place to store it as well.
