Steps to Quit Smoking
The first step to quit smoking is to set a date in which you would ideally like to quit. Preferably set the date for a Monday, some studies have shown that people are more likely to successfully quit if they quit on a Monday. People seem to be more likely to turn a life at the beginning of a week as opposed to the centre or the end of the week.
The next step is to contact all of your friends and family to inform them of your desire to stop smoking. This will help in two ways. Firstly, when you tell other people of your endeavor, you’ll be more likely to remain committed to that outcome as you’ll feel more accountable – especially to those that know of your desire to stop smoking. And secondly, your friends and family will become supportive of your wish. Those that have quit before know how hard it is to stop smoking and they’ll provide advice and tips on how they survived the process.
The next step is to throw out everything at home, in your car and at work that reminds you of smoking. This of course includes any remaining ashtrays, cigarettes, lighters and anything else that’s related to dead tobacco leaves.
The next step is to quit! Make sure you fridge is pilled up with orange juice and other fluids that you can consume to stifle any cravings as well as to help the body rid itself of the poisons of the dead tobacco leaves. Drinking the orange juice will help prevent any sugar cravings, preventing you from putting on weight and the like. If you feel that you’re unable to go it alone, speak to your doctor about the various products that are now on the market concerning stopping smoking. He or she may be able to suggest some products that could help your endeavor to quit smoking.
