Stay Acne Free For Life: A How To Guide

The eternal question “Is it possible to be acne free long term?”  I see so many people who suffer with acne through their twenties and thirties after they’ve experienced bad acne in their teens.  After they’ve gone through a lot of their lives with it, they just learn to accept it, and really give up on ever really beating it.  It always saddens me when someone gives up on the possibility of eventually finding a way to keep their skin clear and blemish free, all because they haven’t found a way to date.

I’d like to say that there are ways to combat acne, even when it’s really bad, and quite likely to leave scars on your face.  I think the first thing to do is look at your lifestyle.  Are you stressed?  If the answer is yes, can you ID causes in your day that you might be able to alter to see if you could be more relaxed?  Often this starts with work.  When you work a 14 hour day, it doesn’ leave much room for eating healthily, excercising regularly, and sleeping 6 to 8 hours (depending on what your body usually needs to function properly).

Once you have assessed this, you’re probably going to want to add a moisturizer, cleanser and toner to your daily routine and apply it daily to the skin that usually gets acne, which for most people is the back, chest and face.  It is important to remember that each of these will be balanced for a specific type of skin – usually either dry, normal or oily skin types.

To complete this routine, you will probably want to add an acne blemish treatment to the above steps, as you’ll want to hit any breakouts with a topical cream as they happen.  Usually the best are ones with a high Benzoyl Peroxide content (up to 10 per cent).
