Simulated Tanzanite Cubic Zirconia Rings

Simulated tanzanite rings can be created using a variety of different stones. The oldest form of what is called a lab created tanzanite simulation is known as tanzanique, created from the mineral forsterite, which is in fact a genuine stone that exists on earth thanks to meteorites. There are also tanzanite simulations crafted from blue glass, and are perhaps the cheapest form of the imitations. The newest, and most closely resembling the true stone color, is cubic tanzanite, which is colored cubic zirconia that has a marvelous periwinkle bluish-purple hue. Most of the commercially available cubic tanzanite ring designs will feature such CZ gems.

Blue Cubic Zirconia Rings and Price Variations

Since tanzanite is such a rare gem, and since the supply of this stone will soon be depleted due to it being mined only in one region of the plant, blue cubic zirconia rings that mimic the luxurious color of this gemstone are extremely popular, well crafted and affordable. Although you can still get a genuine tanzanite ring for around $300, set in gold and accented with small diamonds or other gems, a simulated or cubic tanzanite stone will only cost between $30 and $50, so the total price of the ring will depend on whether it is set in gold, silver or other metal, and how it is accented, with clear CZ stones or genuine diamonds. The rings with the finest quality simulated tanzanite stones will cost a lot more than the cheapest ones and the price variations are so great it’s very difficult to state how much you should pay for a particular ring. For example you can get a simulated cubic tanzanite ring at Silver Speck that costs only about $20 and has a very large periwinkle blue CZ stone set in solid sterling silver. It’s a very basic design with an emerald cut stone, but it is beautiful as a cocktail ring. On the other hand a larger cocktail ring with dozens of small round CZ tanzanite stones pave set into a glorious twisted creation costs around $40. Other companies like Earth’s Treasure have solid sterling silver and high grade tanzanite creations that cost from $45 to about $70, but the same creations in white or yellow gold, 10k or 14k, start at about $225 and go over $500. The difference is not so much about the cubic zirconia stones as it is dependant on the setting in silver or gold and the accent stones and the design, which is some cases may be very intricate and finely crafted in the same manner a genuine stone would be.

Deciding Which Cubic Tanzanite Ring Mounting to Buy

Cubic zirconia rings are no longer just cheap costume jewelry. The quality of the colored stones, like the cubic tanzanite gems that are lab created, have made it possible to use them in precious metal designs that take these rings from the world of fashion jewelry to the realms of fine jewelry. So when you go to select a simulated tanzanite ring, you must know what you need most, a fine piece of jewelry that will last and actually replace a genuine gemstone by being set in gold and accented with diamonds, or a fun cocktail bauble that you can wear just for fun to parties. The other use of these rings is to offer a lovely alternative for a promise ring for young ladies. The simple designs with a small cubic tanzanite stone make great affordable gifts and can be selected in silver for affordability or gold for durability.
