Pricing Glass Door Handles

As with any household items, or in this instance, home improvement items, it pays to know the type of design you’re interested in and what the price range is.  Such is the case when purchasing glass door handles.  On Amazon.com alone, there are four types of glass door handles that range between $16.00 and $46.00.  A lot of your decision is based on what you can afford, however, there are two things to keep in mind.  Just as with anything else, even if you can afford the most expensive glass door handles, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the best one.  Let’s take a brief look at a couple of these.

One set of glass door handles priced at $16.00 comes with a long wooden pull handle which some of the pricer glass door handles do not have.  A pull handle may not seem that important but it is convenient to have if your fingers are slippery and are unable to pull on a door with the glass door handle screwed into the glass.  Wooden glass door handles may also enhance the aesthetic quality of a room.  One reviewer rated this particular glass door handle very highly.

Another set of glass door handles were priced at $40.00.  This one is called a “Zinc Die-Cast Sliding Glass Door Handle”.  The handle is a nickle plated handle which is significantly smaller than the larger wooden pull handle in the previous set, however, this one feels more solid.  One reviewer thought it worked well for him, however, the screws that came with this set were too short for his doors and had to buy a different set of longer screws that would go through his door.

These two examples demonstrate that even a pricier model may have its flaws.  In the second example, everything seemed fine until the purchaser realized that the screws to install the glass door handles were too short.  It’s not clear if this is the buyer’s fault or the manufacturer fault.  Regardless of whose fault it is, it would be advisable to take a screw from home with you when puchasing an item that contains the screws.  That way, you can compare if the screws in the set are the right fit for your door.  At that point, you may have to decide if it’s worth to buy longer screws or forgo the purchase altogether.
