Manicure Tables – What Can I Get For My Money?
If you have decided that you want to try your hand at being a manicurist, one piece of equipment that you must have is a manicure table. There are three types of table that you can choose from – mobile, portable and fixed – and they come in varying designs with different features which means that the price tags start at about $50 and fly up to about $1,000. You can easily find them online – both Ebay and Amazon have large selections.
For around $50 you can expect to get a basic cheap manicure table about 32” long and 18” wide. It will likely have a small storage drawer for your polishes and nail tools and a cushioned arm rest for clients. Wheels will allow you to move it from place to place and it may or may not fold up. You will probably have to assemble it and buy an adjustable lamp to use with it.
For closer to $1000 you can buy a combined manicure table and reception desk. This is ideal for a smaller salon where space is at a premium. The whole desk will be a lot longer at closer to 60” and may have a display cabinet to store nail polishes or to promote products that you wish to sell. They come with a mixture of drawers and cabinets. The table may come in various colors and will be made from more expensive materials. It will probably be delivered built.
Mid range you can find many manicuring tables that have that sense of style. Table tops can be made of granite, marble or frosted glass, they can light up or the table can come with its own venting system to take away nail polish and other chemical odours.
If you are trying to stick to a budget, the must have features are a padded hand rest for your clients and a table lamp to enhance the light over the nails. A drawer or set of drawers are ideal to keep your supplies close to hand but tidily stored. You should aim for a style that fits in with your existing salon but if this is your first equipment purchase then you have more leeway. Spend some time researching your options as you will be spending a lot of time at this table as your business takes off.
