Killer Weight Bench Ab Workout

Nine times out of ten when you say the phrase “weight bench” people minds automatically go to power lifting, chest exercises and word record attempts by guys like Ryan Kennelly. In a conversation involving weight benches the furthest thing by far from peoples minds is an ab exercise. In this article we’ll be covering exactly that. One of the absolute best ab exercises you can do and guess where you’ll be doing it, that’s right, on your olympic weight bench, in the comfort of your own home.

The name of this workout is called the on bench knee curl up. To get started go ahead and sit on the end of your weight bench, then place your hands right behind your buns. Next go ahead and lift your legs up straight in front of you and try to keep them as straight as possible, you’ll definitely have the urge to lay down on your back but fight it. To get started you’ll lay down as flat as possible while still keeping all the weight on your bum without letting your back actually touch the bench. To get started you’ll lift your chest up and curl your back while bringing in your legs and bending them towards your chest and then hold there for two seconds.

After you’ve brought your legs in and have held them there for two seconds you’ll then go back into the flat position, remember to not let your back touch the bench, all the weight should be on your bum at this point still but you’ll be in the flat position and hold it there for two seconds. Now if you lose your balance and you end up having to touch your back to the weight bench or your feet to the floor that’s fine, just pop right back up and start off at a neutral starting point again.

This is a til fail exercise so do as many as you can in each set and at the end of each set once you’ve done several reps you can do some quick ones at the end to do sort of a burn out. Your goal should be to do two to three sets and then rest for a couple minutes between sets. As we said at the beginning of this article, just because most people thing of chest workouts when you mention a weight bench doesn’t mean you are confined to just chest workouts. Get creative and think outside the box and you’ll definitely be surprised what your weight bench can do for you.
