Information About The OLED Television

When it comes to television sets, people today are bombarded with plethora of options. With brand new technology frequently being released in to the market, the all time favourites like the ‘Plasma and LCD’ TVs do not remain an alluring option for the consumers anymore.

Now that there are a whole new range of products available for the consumer who wants something newer and better including LED TV, full HD TV and OLED TV sets and now even the 3D television sets which are one of the newest technologies to hit the market.

So what is this new OLED television set? What is it all about? OLED TV stands for Organic Light Emitting Diodes television and uses new display technology that is made from organic material, hence the name organic light emitting diode. OLED televisions are more efficient, attractive and have much higher contrast ratios and all that’s because it refreshes up thousand times faster than any other television set which gives it an edge over other products.

The first OLED TV was unveiled by Sony, who came up with the XEL 1, a first prototype for this technology. OLED TV screens are very thin and measure only three millimeters in thickness which is one of its most impressive features. Sony was one of the first to bring out an eleven inch screen size version of this type of television, but soon other companies joined in the race and there are all kinds of sizes available for this OLED TV technology.

LG have launched their first OLED TV sets to the consumer with their Object 15” sets. These are now available in Korean markets for a steep sum of over two thousand and six hundred dollars. Today all the leading brands are set to launch many other models and prototypes in the markets during this year. OLED is certainly one to look out for in the future.
