Fundamental Barbecue Tools
Everyone has their own barbecue style, but there are some basic and fundamental tools that every backyard chef needs to have in their repertoire. This post could be used as a shopping list before your next BBQ party, or just to make sure that you have everything that need in your kitchen already.
The first, and most important, tools are the utensils. This means that you have spatulas, knives, tongs, and forks that are suited for the barbecue. Having a different set of these than you use in the regular kitchen is important. If you’ve ever tried to turn falafel in a saute pan with BBQ tongs you know what I’m talking about! Your BBQ set should be at least twice the length as the standard in-kitchen tools.

Another important tool to have (especially if burgers are your thing) is a burger press. These tools work to take fresh ground beef and smash them into uniform size and thickness patties which will cook evenly every time. The Burger Press Pro has these in tons of different shapes and sizes if you can’t track them down in your area.
Having outdoor cookware is also important. If you have the ability to cook with pots and pans on your BBQ you’re going to get a lot more use out of it. I recommend having an extra heavy skillet and dutch oven that are designated for use on your BBQ. This will increase the variety of things that you can do with your BBQ. A paella pan is also an extremely versatile tool that can fit right into some round BBQ’s and allow you to cook almost anything you can imagine outside.
Barbecuing is one of the staples of summer, and having the proper tools will make it much more enjoyable and versatile. Your family will also appreciate the fact that you’re cooking outside and not heating up the house by running the appliances!
