Find Out Ways To Jump Higher To Dunk

The athletic performance industry is a great place to be if you aspire to be rich and famous. Like a rock star it seems like their work is all glitz and glamour but the reality is that there is a tonne of sweat and tears that go along with the public victories. Everyday is still work day, even for the stars. Most athletes will credit their skill not on their work inside the court, rink or playing mat, but in the hours of constant practice doing the same stunts over and over again outside of it.

A lot of athletes or those who are attempting to be are all aiming for that splash of fame but not a lot of people want the work involved in being one. It seems like everybody just wants the exact formula of what to do and when to do in order to improve their athleticism. But skills aren’t made that way. They are a combination of the athlete’s lifestyle and the continuous rigor to sustain it.

In basketball, everybody wants to learn how to jump higher to dunk and most are confused as to what to do exactly in order to attain that strong vertical jump. A lot of professional athletes and coaches will tell you there is no secret formula involved in those jumps. It all came with training and diet shifts that made jumping higher merely a side effect of the success of the training.

Most people just aim to increase their height, but really, what’s needed to jump higher is to increase the power in the whole body. An increase in power is due to the increase in speed and strength. The strength is needed in order to exert maximum force in a limited amount of time. The greater the amount of force is, the greater the speed will be.

Before trying to learn ways to jump higher, there are 10 performance quality movements in training stated in the vertical jump bible by Kelly Baggett that needs to be worked on in order to increase height. There’s control and stability, general strength, range of motion, maximum strength, maximum power, starting strength, force absorption training, reactive training, short response reactive training and speed of movement or what people refer to as velocity. All of these qualities are like dominos that are interconnected to each other. If one is weak then the rest won’t work as much.

So where do you start? The most basic things to focus on when starting to train is control and stability. This will guide the proper training of the athlete as one has to get his body coordinated. It will also lead the body to memorizing the proper movement patterns during a workout. As all athletes know, it isn’t the quantity of the workout that’s important but the quality in each movement.

Study these one after the other and there’s sure to be some change in the way you jump, how you jump and how high you can jump through time. Good Luck!
