Choose The Best Trade Shows

Face to face interaction with customers and clients is important in any business and trade shows are one of the best ways to achieve this. Trade shows not only give you the opportunity to showcase your product or describe your service but also to make a lasting impression on customers. A trade show may not allow the time needed to make an in-depth presentation about your product or service but it provides an opening for future communication.

It is important to set goals that will allow you to choose the best trade shows at which to exhibit. The first question you need to answer is why are you exhibiting? Do you want to sell a product or service, introduce a new product or bring home leads? The answer to this question will allow you to tailor your booth and the information you are presenting to the specific demographic. It will also give you the opportunity to train your staff to carry out this specific goal.

Another question to answer is how is your product best publicized? Should you choose a trade show that is selling a broad variety of goods and services, or should you choose a show that is narrowly focused on just one type of product. This question can usually be answered by looking at a list of vendors or a list of attendees. It may also be prudent to speak with past vendors and attendees to learn what was useful and what was not about past shows.

How the show is promoted is another aspect to consider. A company is only successful at a trade show if there is traffic in the exhibit hall. Well promoted shows will attract many decision makers, giving you a better opportunity to market your product. Sometimes event organizers will schedule luncheons or socials in the exhibit hall, this ensures that attendees spend time with the vendors, but this may be less than ideal, simply because it is hard to manage food, a drink and literature about your product. If events are scheduled in this way, make sure there is adequate time for eating and visiting exhibits.

With a little research and planning, the time, effort and expense of exhibiting at a trade show will be well rewarded. You will make many lasting impressions and generate business relationships that could last for years. Following the steps outlined above will make your trade show experience enjoyable and profitable and make long-term associations that will serve your company well in the future.
