Why I adore Newry in Ireland – there is lots to do
Posted in Travel on February 28th, 2011 by Jim – Comments OffThe area of Newry in Northern Ireland is a pretty small place but even so there’s a whole lot to do, it could be tough to pack everthing into your holiday. I understand that whenever you get to any new town the very first time it could be a bit frightening but I decided I’d list several of the best activities when you are there.
Costs are often an issue for almost any activity I plan on doing in a new city because keeping costs affordable is usually a priority. One of the most economical things to do is exploring the two large shopping centres at the heart of the city which are the Quays and also Buttercrane which have plentiful car parking. I understand that shopping is usually associated with spending money but there are tons of affordable cafes and knick-knack stores plus there’s always window shopping also.
A much-loved hobby of mine is go-karting and Newry offers an excellent track on the outskirts of the city which offers affordable rates for both children and older people. You will get one hour on the track for less than $50 bucks which I believe really is excellent value plus racing around this premium track is a real buzz. Even if you’re in no way into racing there is a cafe and observation section where you can relax and watch.
Following a long afternoon there’s nothing as good as a drink inside a old fashioned Irish public house and one of my personal favourites is Bellinis that’s based in the actual heart of Newry. One thing I like regarding the bar is the fact that the locals go there to hang out too and it’s not just other travellers that you’re likely to meet. I’ve often believed that being able to meet local people is key for an enjoyable vacation anyplace since it’s the answer to getting a true taste of the local lifestyle.
Ideally this guide will give you some suggestions on just how to make the very best of your visit to Newry, if you are searching for a hotel check out my site Newry hotels for many more articles.
