Swap Your Tobacco For An E Cigarette

Posted in E Cigarettes on November 1st, 2009 by admin – Comments Off

For smokers trying to discover an alternative to their regular tobacco products the e cigarette is a healthier option which is quickly gaining acceptance. Also known as the electric cigarette, this battery powered device utilizes a component known as an atomizer to vaporize a nicotine solution when the smoker inhales on the filter. The vapor which is produced contains nicotine and a substance called propylene glycol which gives the vapor a smoke-like appearance.

The nicotine “smoke” and the tobacco like sensation experienced when using the e cigarette ensures that smokers don’t miss their traditional smokes and many actually prefer the clean taste of this high-tech nicotine replacement product. There are a range of flavors available so whether you are looking for the familiar tobacco flavor or something fresh such as mint there is plenty for you to choose from.

E Cigarettes have only been on the market for a couple of years so there is still a fair amount of work to be done before everyone gets to know this device and to give it a shot. With that said, the e cig is no longer considered a niche or novelty item as many hundreds of smokers are deciding to make that purchase every day.

What you should remember if you are thinking about taking the plunge yourself is that this device hasn’t been approved as a stop smoking aid by the FDA due to the fact that extensive testing of its safety has not been carried out. This isn’t to say that the electronic cigarette is in any way dangerous and most of us would come to the conclusion that its likely to be far safer than the alternative of tobacco.

Apart from the possible health benefits of switching over to the E Cig there is also the large amount of cash to stand to save in the process. Smokers often get put of when they see the price of buying a starter kit but when you consider the low cost of replacement cartridges you see that you will be saving a fortune over the course of a year.

Even if you decide to opt for one the most expensive starter kits on market such as green smoke e cigarettes you will still save over 50% on your annual smoking bill.

Your only predicament should be trying to decide which model to go for, and with so many on the market this may be no easy task. One thing to remember is that with this product you really do get what you pay for and cheap electronic cigarettes are best avoided. Select a high quality 2 piece device that offers a years warranty and you won’t go too far wrong.

Have You Seen The Disposable E Cigarette?

Posted in E Cigarettes on June 3rd, 2011 by Jim – Comments Off

You might have seen them advertised on late night television on one of those infomercials that everyone is always making fun of. Or you might have seen them advertised and reviewed on one of the many web sites which have popped up online over the last couple of years. If you are a smoker however finding out exactly what disposable e cigarettes are makes a lot of sense if you are looking to save cash, and your health. Because this is such a new product, introduced in 2006 to the consumer market, there really has not been a great deal of advertising, so many people aren’t sure about how the product actually works.

Actually these devices are fairly simple to understand. While some disposable e cigarette devices come in three pieces and some in just two, essentially they are a thin plastic tub that is made to resemble a cigarette. Inside the tub is a nicotine cartridge, heating element and sensor. The sensor determines when you are signaling for more nicotine, the element warms the nicotine to produce a tiny puff of nicotine vapor, and you inhale. All brands are battery powered and starter´s kits come with batteries and chargers.

While not advertised as a stop smoking device e cigarettes can be used, and some studies are saying more effectively, to help you quit tobacco. The cartridges come in four different strengths, strong, medium, mild and none. This determines the nicotine strength in the cartridge. Manufacturers recommend that you start with the strong and use each one for about two weeks before buying a milder cartridge.

Of course this is not a perfect solution and no nicotine replacement is very effective when used alone. Electronic cigarettes however have a higher success rate and they are not even advertised as an NRT. It is still advisable to seek other therapy, like counseling or even a stop smoking shot. You should also be careful with this product because this is pure nicotine, which can be very dangerous if abused. Nicotine poisoning is no laughing matter and too much of this poisonous substance can kill.

If you are in the market for one of these devices but don’t know were to start your search, you might want to take a look at the apollo disposable e cigarette first.

Antique Engagement Rings And Jewellery – The Gemstones

Posted in Jewelry on February 19th, 2011 by Jim – Comments Off

Antique engagement rings and antique pieces of jewellery were often set with gemstones such as diamonds, emeralds and rubies. This article looks at some of the gemstones which were not as widely used in these items of jewellery.

The mineral beryl has a number of different varieties, emerald being the most popular and well-known of these. There is however an equally attractive variety of beryl and this is called aquamarine. This gemstone is pale blue in colour and some older examples may have foil applied to the back of the stone to improve colour and brilliance. Some examples may have been heat-treated to improve the depth of colour.

The colour of citrine can be anything from a pale yellow to orange or brown. Citrine is a variety of crystalline quartz which is sometimes misidentified as topaz. The jewellery of the 19th and 20th centuries often incorporated citrine in its designs.

The blue-white variety of feldspar known as moonstone has an attractive sheen known as adularescence. Moonstone is often shaped into a flat-sided dome shape known as a cabochon, as this shows it off particularly well. Mines in Sri Lanka and India supplied most of the moonstone seen in antique jewellery.

Milky opals have an attractive mixture of colours when they are high quality examples, showing red, green and blue colouration. Poorer quality milky opals have a mainly white colour. There are other varieties of opal in addition to the milky opals, some other types being Mexican fire opals and black opals.

Although garnet has a reputation for being deep red in colour (garnet of this colour is often seen in antique engagement rings) it occurs in several colours. Almandine garnet is purplish-red in colour and pyrope garnet is deep red. There are also green garnets called demantoid garnets (the most expensive type), and orange-red varieties known as hessonite garnet.

Art Deco engagement rings were often set with a colourless variety of quartz known as rock crystal. It was popular with jewellers as it was inexpensive and easy to cut into the geometric shapes which Art Deco jewellery is known for.
