Cake Decorating Tips

Posted in Party on February 5th, 2011 by Jim – Comments Off

Artistry as applied to cakes has witnessed an upsurge lately due to shows like Ace of cakes and cake boss which have played a huge role in spreading the popularity of this art. In any special occasion, the presence of a cake is essential as it spices up the mood as well as adding a sweet flavor. Experts in bakery engage in baking that is designed to tickle your taste bud as well as impress you. The art of decorating cakes is indeed meant to be done to perfection. Most cake decorating tips are based on artistic ideas which have to be executed professionally as well. Some of these tips are discussed below.

It is important to learn how to bake a cake that is real as opposed to the use of cake mixes which are instant or even using pre made cakes. In order to be an accomplished cake decorator, you will have to go the full hog of baking a good cake before actually embarking on its decoration. Practically, practicing on the pre made cakes or instant cake mixes is actually very important. Anyone wishing to savor real accomplishment has to learn all the intricacies of baking before embarking on the decorating aspect. You will also be able to better complement the flavor of the cake with the decoration.

It is important have the cake cool down before you actually embark on the trimming part. This can be greatly achieved by having the cake stay for some time in the refrigerator where it will get to retain all the moisture as well as achieving some tightness within it. When the time comes for undertaking the actual decorations, the cake will be more stable which will be good for the overall outlook of the cake. Most bakers who embark on decorating cakes do not seem to factor in this crucial aspect of cake decoration. This is a very important part of cake decoration as it has been found that in cases where the frosting job is uneven or where it forms some tiny crumbs, the decorations do not come out smoothly as they would if the cake had been previously cooled down in a refrigerator.

This one change can bring all the difference that you’ve been yearning for. Just before you start frosting the cake, ensure that you trim it properly. This takes care of all the rough edges that might be present. You will end up with more refined edges which will form an effective seal as concerns sealing in the moisture.

Some Tips on How To Make The Best 21st Birthday Gifts

Posted in Party on January 18th, 2011 by Jim – Comments Off

Is a friend turning 21 soon? Are you having a hard time racking your brain for a suitable birthday present? Well, cut your poor noodle some slack and pay attention. Here are some useful tips that can help – I hope.

A person’s 21st birthday isn’t just some random occasion. For one, it his/her birthday – the day he/she was born into this earth, and two, you don’t turn 21 every day – or every year, do you?

A friend or family’s 21st birthday celebration marks a turning point in his/her life. It is a time when one pauses and reflects about his/her previous life experiences and prepares him/herself to take on the tricky and more challenging adult world.

Now that I have stressed just how important this event is, I’m sure you get why bringing the celebrant a present that he/she will truly appreciate is kind of a must.

Here comes the more important part, so bear with me.

During the process of selecting or purchasing a good 21st birthday gift, make sure to learn the celebrant’s interests and take them into account. It is vital to put this into consideration because, of course, you would want to come up with something the birthday boy/girl will enjoy. If the celebrant is interested in fashion, get him clothes or accessories; if he/she is into music and entertainment, a piece or few of his/her favorite artist’s CD or DVD would nicely do; if the person takes interest in cars and gadgets, then go get him/her one – if your budget allows this, that is.

Another thing to remember is this: MONEY is not an obstacle. You don’t necessarily have to spend wads of cash to make the celebrant happy on this special day. There are so many affordable options to choose from that it can be quite overwhelming!

If you are creative and imaginative enough, you can even come up with something personal and home-made, provided that you have ample talent to make your project pretty and presentable. An Audio-visual presentation, a personalized album, or a music-video are just few of the many 21st birthday gifts for him or her that you can make on your own. Set your imagination free and let it soar!

Whether it is purchased or self-made, a present is only as good as the love that comes with it.

The Top 5 Tailgating Tips To Make Your Next Party A Success

Posted in Party on October 23rd, 2010 by admin – Comments Off

Sport fans from all over the world know just how important tailgating is and in order to have the best tailgating party you need to have the right tailgating supplies. Tailgating before any game is more than just grilling up some food and spending time with family and friends. Tailgating is also about getting into the spirit of things so that when you go into the game you are ready to help cheer your team on to victory. In order for a tailgating party to be a success you need to have the right tailgating supplies, but you also have to know what to expect.

Tip One: Get There Early

This doesn’t mean that you have to get there at dawn, but you do want to get there way before the game starts. Most serious tailgaters find that getting there at least three hours before the game starts is just right for tailgating successfully, while others find that they need four hours to get the job done. To determine how early you need to get there you need to think about what you have planned, how long will it take you to set up and cook your food, play a few games and then put everything away.

Tip two: Parking Spot

The perfect parking spot has a big influence on your party. The best spot is next to a grassy area because it means one less spot for cars to park next to you, which means you can spread the party out. Near trees is another great spot because of the shade they provide on a hot day, but a canopy or tent will also help block out the shade. Keep in mind that some stadiums charge you extra for the best parking spots, so you might just have to make do with any spot that you can find.

Tip three: Knowing the Rules

Knowing what rules you have to follow is important for your tailgating party. Every stadium has different rules, so you will want to ask around from friends or other tailgaters about the rules at your favorite stadium or you can even look online. Not knowing the rules you need to follow ahead of time increases the chances of you breaking one of those rules and being kicked out before the game even starts.

Tip four: Planning Ahead

Planning your activities before the party is a great idea because it enables you to get the tailgating supplies that you will need to be prepared for the party. When planning ahead for the party you want to think of everything that you need, which will include utensils, garbage bags, plates, and anything else that you will need so you can eat and clean up. One way to help ensure that you don’t forget anything is to create a checklist a few nights before or even have a tailgating party box with all of the basics that you will need, so all you have to do is add the perishables.

Tip five: Cleaning Up

When it comes to cleaning up you want to make sure that you get everything. Some stadiums have garbage cans in the parking lot, which means all you have to do is walk to the garbage can to dispose of your trash. Other stadiums don’t have garbage cans in the parking lot so you have to take out all of your garbage, which is where the trash bags come in handy. If you are using charcoal for grilling, you will want to dispose of the hot coals properly so that you don’t cause a fire or accident.

The best part about tailgating is that the fun doesn’t have to end just because the game is over. Many of your die-hard tailgaters come back to the parking lot after the game to continue where they left off. The best part about tailgating after the game is over is it helps you avoid all of that traffic after the game.
