Who doesn’t have a facebook account nowadays? Oh, boy, even my fifty-eight-year-old dad has a facebook account. What then is this social networking relevance for today’s topic? Well, ever since I created my facebook account, I have been bugged by some in my friend’s list about signing in to join the Mafia Wars game. Several notifications on Mafia Wars game invitation flooded my wall. I became curios about this online game that has been proliferating millions, if not thousands, of online gamers.

By the name itself, most of you probably would raise an eyebrow. Mafias denote a group of people that spread chaos and illegal tactics. Perhaps you may think this game evokes similar operations of Mafias, thus harmful to the psychological well-being of online gamers, especially the minors. I’ll leave the judgment to you. For now, here is a background about what Mafia Wars is all about.

Mafia Wars is an online multiplayer game developed by a Web 2.0-based or browser-based social networking game developer, Zynga, founded in San Francisco, California. The concepts of this game are to accomplish and master the Mafia Wars best jobs to earn money and experience for the expansion and advancement of the player’s criminal domain. Before a game starts, a player must choose which class he or she would like to belong to. The classes include maniac, mogul, and fearless. These three have different features, either an advantage or disadvantage compared to the other character classes. This goes to show that even before you begin the game, you are trained to generate winning strategies.

A player must produce mafias by employing other players and through earning reward points a player can recruit new extra members to expand his or her empire. Once the empire has been established, they get to fight against other empires. Players are set in default cities like New York City and Little Italy, but have an option to travel in different countries in various continents to recruit more members. These countries are Bangkok, Las Vegas, Cuba, Moscow, and the newest addition which were only released this year, 2010, are South Africa, Paris, London, Mumbai, Dublin, and Las Vegas.

Players who have completed their tasks, finding the best jobs in Mafia Wars and improved their stats throughout the game can move up to the next levels. The gameplay of Mafia Wars is similar to a role playing game, where one manipulates a character he or she plays. Protect Your Pink Laptop with Free Virus Protection

There is no greater responsibility as a computer owner than to protect your valuable investment and precious files from the threat of viruses. We all know that the online world presents a significant threat to the security of computer and its contents, so purchasing virus protection software really is an obvious decision. For people that have recently purchased a new pink laptop computer, or any computer for that matter, it’s critical that they secure some form of virus protection before venturing out onto the Internet.

The first question people are likely to have in response to my recommendation is, “isn’t it true that virus protection software is expensive”? The answer to this, of course, is no. In fact, there are many excellent programs available for free. These programs are legitimate and the download process is completely safe and legal. In addition to these great free programs, there are also a variety of programs that can be purchased, though paying money for virus protection doesn’t necessarily offer you any better protection from online threats. Regardless of the type of program you choose, it’s vital that you keep your software up to date by performing routine, and preferably automatic, program updates. Your brand new pink laptop will not be so nice when it becomes infected with viruses or spyware, so don’t get caught unprepared.

There are several free virus protection programs available, though the two I recommend the most are produced by AVG and Avast. Both of these software programs are fairly simplistic and don’t offer a bunch of fancy options or cool looking interfaces. With that said, they do protect against online threats, and they do this very well. Both software packages have built a loyal following and have accumulated thousands of independent reviews from people that have been more than pleased with the results they have achieved. Personally, I have been using Avast for about 7 years and have never experienced an interruption in computer function or damage to my files in that time. From day one I simply set up the program to update itself automatically and have had no issues with it. I have also opted to have the program scan my entire hard drive once per month to eliminate any harmful files that might have made their way on to my system.

You no longer have an excuse for not having virus protection, as there are many reputable programs available for free download. The programs themselves can be acquired directly from their respective manufacturers and can be set to receive automatic updates, providing a worry free experience. Check these programs out today and get protected.

When looking for the best student laptops, a lot of people get lost trying to read through review and review and comparing specs from multiple models, only to sit there confused and unsure of exactly what is the “best laptop for college students“. Don’t get stuck reading and trying to understand all the details and inner workings on laptops, it won’t help you find the best one, it might help you find a more expensive one however. And if you’re like I was in college, you’re looking for an afforable laptop for college, not the most expensive model you can find.

So how do you find some of the best laptops for college students? Easy, ask the college you are going to. Every college now has minimum requirements for what laptops will work with their network. It includes everything from the processor speed, hard drive, memory, and even the operating system. The requirements aren’t very strict, but are important to pay attention to. One of the more important requirements is the operating system however. Microsoft has been switching operating systems rather quickly over the past few years. Specifically from Windows XP to Vista and now to Windows 7. A lot of schools prefer to have either Windows XP or Windows 7.

Here’s a little secret; almost every laptop available today will be a good laptop for school and will meet their requirements. Manufactuers have made great advances in the technology inside laptops and it’s now at a point where even the entry level laptops you see for $399 are going to fit the bill and work great for most college students. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule such as a photography or graphic design student, but you’ll most likely find yourself looking around the Apple store for those majors.

Instead of worrying about the specs, spend some time looking at the other options like speakers, the color of the laptop, or even a remote. Yes, even some multimedia laptops now come with remotes. Some of the best laptops for students are the ones that you actually like and will enjoy using. Check out the models at the local electronics store, give the keyboards a try, pick them up, and use the trackpad. Make sure you like the feel of the laptop and will enjoy using it through college.
