Bullseye! – Archery Games
If you are an archer and you enjoy video games, I have some good news and bad news for you. The bad news is that there is no decent video game or simulator that focuses solely on archery. Most of the video games that have archery in them are usually role-playing adventures involving elves and orcs. For those of you who aren’t interested in that kind of stuff, it can be quite the bummer that you can’t battle cross-winds and hit bull’s eyes all while in the comfort of your own home.
However, like I said, there is some good news. While there is no such thing as a video title focused on archery, there are such things as archery tasks within other games. For example, Wii sports has a great archery mini game included. While it doesn’t include all the subtleties of the sport, it is probably the best archery game available right now. Since you have to physically mimic the act of drawing the bow, aiming, and firing, it is about as realistic as you are going to get until a good archery simulator is produced.
Now, if you don’t have a Wii, there are a few games on other platforms you can look into. There is even an iPhone app called iArchery. While it is most definitely not as detailed graphically intense as the Wii sports version, it can be a fun little thing to play while you are bored waiting in line or stuck in traffic.
Of course, there are the many hunting games available as well that have archery in them such as Cabela’s Big Game Hunter or Deer Hunter all enable you to go bow hunting. If you don’t mind outdoor adventures such as hunting, this could be something you might be interested in.
There are also many, many places online that offer free archery games. These are usually flash games so they are really not very good for any amount of extended play, but some of them are quite fun and are good for passing the time.
In conclusion, while it is true there isn’t a video game focused solely on archery, there are examples available that let you experience the sport if you can’t get yourself out to the range.
