Ableton Tutorials For Learning Music Production

Ableton Live is the hottest electronic music production software on the market, allowing producers at all levels of knowledge to bring their creations to fruition.  One of the most important elements of software like this is the interface, and many would argue that it’s more important than even the sound quality that comes at the master output.  Here are a few of the features that make it so fantastic:

  1. The session view allows you take a completely different look at the structure of your music, providing a vertical, rather than horizontal, way of arranging things.  Horizontal strips that run across the the tracks allow you to arrange your music into “scenes,” thus giving you a quick and efficient way of triggering different arrangements of notes.
  2. The creative effects that Ableton gives you are second to none.  Some of the more exotic ones include the Frequency Shifter (new to version 8) as well as the Grain Delay.  The grain delay allows you to capture bits of audio in realtime and delay, repitch, and even “spray” the particles of audio all over the stereo spectrum, resulting in some really cool effects.

  3. The simple arrangement view is the other side of the token from the session view.  This is the traditional horizontal view that people are used to seeing in digital audio workstations, but what sets this one apart is the simplicity of the interface.  This compliment can be paid to Ableton’s interface in general, featuring broad strokes and simple colors that are easy on the eyes.

These are just a small sampling of Ableton’s great features.  There are lots of ableton tutorials available to teach you the program, so don’t hesitate to check them out if you need help with sound design or music production.  With all the resources available, you shouldn’t have any problem getting up to speed quickly.  Feel free to stop by Nicks Tutorials for more information.
