Sales skills are something you need to be successful in life. Why not just get a sales job and learn to do it right to begin with? Especially if you want to do well in business, you need to acquire some measure of sales skills.
The best way to learn sales skills is to get a sales job. It’s not hard to do. You usually don’t need a degree for most sales jobs. In addition, some you can start part-time.
Probably the most common and easiest way to do this is to get a job selling insurance. It’s usually a commission only job, but that also makes it low barrier to entry. This is a great advantage especially if you don’t have a degree or you don’t have any sales experience or background.
Also, I just read a Wall Street Journal report saying that hiring for selling life insurance is on the rise. As the economy recovers, more people will start to buy insurance again. These large insurance carriers are preparing for the coming surge by hiring a lot of agents.
I recall a big business tycoon saying how important it was to have sales skills. So important that they got a sales jobs when they were first starting out just to get that skill under their belt. He said that he joined this one company just because they had one of the best sales training programs in the world.
Even if you don’t end up doing sales as a career, the training and experience that you get will take you a long way. You will experience the walls and challenges that all sales reps face. But you will learn to overcome them.
Those same walls and challenges will happen in your career no matter what you do. By getting a sales job, you will learn early on that you have to face them and you will learn how to do it.
